Reading List in Sidebar

What would be the best way to add a "Reading List" to the sidebar? I don't know if this is even possible in Serendipity, but I thought I'd ask. [And I couldn't find any prior posts on this subject]

This list basically would show the books I am planning on reading for a certain period of time. As I finish reading the books, I would just "strikethrough" the title so others can see I have finished reading that particular book.

Actually....I just now saw something regarding Static pages....
When creating a static page, there is an option to "show on side-bar navigation". Is this my answer?? I just tried to create a test "reading list" static page and clicked "yes" for showing this on the side-bar, but nothing is showing. Am I missing something? :)

Thanks for any feedback!!

Hi!

It depends how "automatic" you want it to have. The most easy way would be to simply add a HTML nugget plugin, enter your code there and later edit the nugget to strike out read books.

You can then also set <a href> links to read books pointing to articles you wrote about them.

The staticpage thing is actually just a list of static pages, nothing you can add with images or even strike out.

Best regards,
Garvin

Hi

just to add that if you have a Amazon id you can use the Amazon media plugin to link your reading list to your Amazon account.

Thank you Garvin & Dave for your feedback and tips! I tried the HTML nugget and it worked exactly as I wanted. And I especially like the tip about linking the books to any articles I will write.

The more I get familiar with Serendipity, the more in love I am with it!! LOL! I love the wide range of flexibility. This is truly a great program!! You all have done a fantastic job with it!!! :D

Blessings,
Jocelyn
