RSS Feed does not update?

Website: http://www.e-controller.eu/weblog/

After updating the content on the site (s9y), the update does not go through to people reading the updates with RSS. I tried it with FeedReader. After installing FeedReader and initializing the RSS, it will read the first 15 entries and place them in FeedReader to read, but after adding a new entry, the new entry does not go through to FeedReader. I have the same problem with adding the RSS Feed to LiveJournal (http://syndicated.livejournal.com/ec_weblog/profile).

I added http://www.e-controller.eu/weblog/index ... index.rss1 to FeedReader and also tried the same thing with adding http://www.e-controller.eu/weblog/index ... index.rss2. Both have the same result: it will initially read, but then not update.

I tried to find the solution in earlier entries here, but I couldn't find it. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your time and efforts :D

Further edit: I have upgraded to 1.1.2 now. The RSS feed still does not add new entries. However, oddly enough the comments appear to work correctly and are added as they occur.

Hi!

RSS Feeds support caching, maybe your feedreader is either not properly sending/reading those. Did you try a different RSS client already?

Try to call the URL manually via your browser and hit Shift-F5 to refresh the page after you posted a new entry. If it works there, it should work in all RSS Readers.

Best regards,
Garvin

Hi Garvin,

Thank you for trying to help me out here. I have tried various clients. I have narrowed the problem, though, so hopefully this will to find the solution to this mystery.

When I add one category to the client and then update in the category, it does work properly. It's just when I try the same thing with the entire weblog, the client does not update properly.

I have also updated and then looked to what happened at <F5> when testing with the entire weblog. After updating and hitting <F5> the screen also updated.

Would all this help you? Thank you again for your time and efforts. It is very much appreciated.

Hi!

At least my RSS Bandit seems to update your URL properly, so it seems to be client-related...?

If you're running a recent s9y, you can configure the Syndication plugin to enable the option "Activate strict RFC2616 RSS-Feed compliance" - this will turn on strict caching and might help your trouble.

Best regards,
Garvin

Garvin,

Thank you for all the help and support that you offer. RSS Bandit requires .NET framework to be installed, which would take too many resources from my notebook. Instead of that, I would like to ask you which URL you precisely added to your RSS Bandit.

I have tried to locate the "activate strict RFC2616 RSS-Feed compliance", but I couldn't find it. You were referring to the sidebar plugin "Syndicate This Blog" to find it in, right? If so, I can't find it in there. Do I need to have a different or additional plug-in installed?

I won't take up too much of your time and resources. If we won't be able to figure this out, I will use the LJUpdate plugin and then make things happen that way.

Thank you again for all the time and effort(s) you put into your user base. It is very much appreciated.

Hi!

I've added http://www.e-controller.eu/weblog/index ... index.rss2 to my RSS Bandit where it seems to update properly. At least today I got the new entry "copying this weblog to a weblog server" in my feed.

I'm sorry for the misinformation. This setting only got available in serendipity 1.2 versions, so you would need to update to a snapshot to have that option. :(

Until then you can try to subscribe to http://www.e-controller.eu/weblog/rss.p ... cache=true to try to disabling caching.

HTH,
