my sidebar disappeared

Post by pakl.at »

I am using the contest (Blue Streak) theme on my blog (excellent theme by the way) and some time after I installed the freestyle tagging plugin (that was the last change I can remember) my sidebar suddenly disappeared.

If I click on Configure plugin the page stops loading before it shows the 'Save' and 'Removed ticked plugins' (Sidebar plugins) buttons. It just stops and there is no indication that there was any problem. I tried to switch of advanced JS usage but that doesn't help.

So I am unable to change the sidebar or to remove the plugins. On the site itself the space for the sidebar is taken away from the normal body but the sidebar is not showing. (there is a white gap)

As you might guess I am not a web developer and I don't have any idea what to look for.

Any hints would be appreciated!
TIA

Hi!

Can you have a look at the HTML output of the sidebar plugin listing page? It could be that a fatal PHP error in one of the plugin PHP files causes your trouble.

You might ask your provider to have a look at the PHP error output log, as it seems 'Display_errors' are turned off...

Vielen herzlichen Dank für den Tipp!

Indeed, one of the plugins caused the problem -- the html output stopped in the line where the amazon plugin tries to download some data. properly my input in the asin list was nonsense... anyway, I renamed the amazon plugin folder and could load the plugin page (and remove the error-ticket)..

and voi la the sidebar is here again!

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer and of course for all your efforts for s9y!

cheers,
Pakl
