I've lost my privilegies in my own blog
This is funny
I've changed the comments and trackbacks' mail notifications to "No", reverted the changes to "Yes" and... my privilegies are lost.
Specially note S9Y asking me about my member status if I didn't change anything about this.
Now I have a blank page in the admin section with 3 links: Main Page, Back to the weblog and Logout.

Hi!
It seems you have also set the option "Forbid to create entries" to "YES". This effectively blocks you out of the system.
Be sure to always make sure which checkboxes/radiobuttons you activate. Re-activating your access is a bit harder and required phpMyAdmin actions. Search this forum for "no_create".
Best regards,
Garvin

Thanks for the reply. I have searched but all replies are useless to me, I have not access nor the database neither FTP.garvinhicking wrote:Hi!

I don't know why so dangerous option is labeled only with "Forbid to create entries" and is near others. Totally nonsense.

that's bad, you will need to contact your sysadmin in that case. Without DB or FTP access you cannot fix the problem. Thanks for the reply. I have searched but all replies are useless to me, I have not access nor the database neither FTP.
It does seem that some people occasionally click on it, despite of it reading "the user may not create new entries". Do you have a suggestion how to better solve that? I'm all ears to try to make that more userfriendly.I don't know why so dangerous option is labeled only with "Forbid to create entries" and is near others. Totally nonsense.

Re: I've lost my privilegies in my own blog
Hello
Some facts about this option:
Moving the option away from the personal settings, make it available only from the management of the users and with a schema like this "Group1 > Group2 > Group3... > GroupN", i.e., users in Group1 can access this option for users un Group2,3,...,N; users in Group2 for users in Group3,...N; and so on. The users could not access the option for users in her/his same group.
I'm not a developer so I don't know if what I said is more o less difficult to implement or if I get the real meaning for such option, but this is how I see it.
And because of this I'm posting in the supersized forum.garvinhicking wrote:Hi!

Yep, occasionally some people click on it, maybe because they don't read "this option will ban you from the blog" which is the real effect, rather than prevent you from creating new entries.garvinhicking wrote: It does seem that some people occasionally click on it, despite of it reading "the user may not create new entries". Some facts about this option:
- It does more than the description say (or the description is wrong or "two different options, similar name")
- Despite the previous fact the option is near others
- The option is in my own personal settings
- Reversing the change requires administrator access/skills
- Solutions?

Re: I've lost my privilegies in my own blog
Hi!
Sorry. In that case, Jannis will need to fix this for you. *g*
About a long-term solution - what I drew from your answer is that I could implement this:
1. Rename the option to describe better what it does
2. Move the option out of the "Personal preferences" section.
3. Move the option into the "User management" scheme and make it available to admins only
Do you think that would be a good way? Then I'll implement it, it's not that hard (only re-translating the option is )
Best regards,
Garvin

Re: I've lost my privilegies in my own blog
Hi!
I just committed those changes to the 1.2 snapshot SVN. It looks VERY Good, I'm ashamed we didn't do that before.
Many, many thanks for your input.
Best regards,
Garvin
