Re: sitemap url for Yahoo and MSN?
Hi!
Do Yahoo and MSN have a sitemap indexer like google has? I thought only google offered this.
Regards,
Garvin

i got the idea of checking form the plugin. the manual submission url for Yahoo is:
https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit
and for MSN:
http://beta.search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=WSUT
https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit
and for MSN:
http://beta.search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=WSUT

followed the directions, still not luck
i deleted the plugin using the admin interface. i toggled between netmirror and s9y and back and that fixed spartacus.
but still have no luck with the sorting. I haven't edited the plugin or php as it is beyond the scope of my talents
unless i have a cookbook of do this, then that, then this, etc.
thank you for helping me figure this out.

Hi!
Uh, those URLs do not deal with sitemap submission. It's something completely different than what the google sitemap API supports and what the sitemap plugin is for.
Please check https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools ... about.html to see what the google sitemap does!
A plugin for the sites you listed cannot be created, because they do not allow submissions from bots/plugins. There's a captcha that cannot be passed by a serendipity plugin, so you need to do that manually. Unlike Google sitemap, which is explicitly for automatted submission.
Best regards,
Garvin

you're right
but i read something about an api in beta, as well as support for the format of the map format from the plugin. when i find those references i will post them here. in the meantime, thank you for Serendipity. It rocks!
Well, there has been news last year that Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo! joined forces in creating a sitemap standard. Haven't heard anything about this since then, but a quick search returned this page at Yahoo!. Maybe this helps.

AFAIK, Microsoft support sitemaps, but don't yet support sitemaps: They agree to the standard, but haven't fully implemented it yet.
Both Yahoo's and MSN's automatic sitemap ping URLs seem to be broken, but anyway, here's the information I found a while ago, since it might get you closer to what you're looking for..
The URL for MSN/Live search is supposedly "http://search.live.com/ping?sitemap=<your sitemap url>" but this doesn't seem to work.
Yahoo's seems to be "https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/s ... emap=<your sitemap url>", but I can't confirm this (I don't get a confirmation, I get a login page).
If these are correct, then you should be able to ping properly using the plugin in Serendipity with this setting for your ping URL list: "http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ ... sitemap=%s".
