Hi,

I just have upgraded to 1.1.1 and everything works fine except 2 sidebar plugins: the categories one and the Blog Administration one.

I used to give the read permission to myself only. But now, everybody can see it on the frontpage. I deleted them, I reinstalled them : although it is set to "cyril", anyone can see it on the frontpage.

There was the same kind of problem with the author form plugin and a html nugget plugin (nobody unloggued could read them whereas it was set on "all authors"), but the reinstallation of the plugins fixed this.

Nevermind if the Blog Administration is accessible by anyone, it is just redundant with the Auhtor form.

But I am very concerned about the category sidebar plugin :
I would want to give to a specific group of users an access to a specific category.
So I created a VIP category and I gave read and write permissions to a VIP group of users. It worked until the upgrade.
But I would want a link in the right sidebar that only the VIP group can see and giving access to the VIP category.

The problem is that by an html nugget or the category sidebar plugin, you can give permission to everybody or a user only, NOT A GROUP.


I have searched through the whole forum, but I coulnd't find something like this.

Does anyone have an idea about these 2 problems ?

How did you set that exactly? Using the plugin "Toggle/hide sidebars"?

That's the only way how you can toggle for which users a sidebar element is visible, Serendipity does not have that as core functionality...

When you have the lists of sidebar plugins in the plugin configurator, you can choose "All authors" or a user in particular. I chose myself.

Any idea about the visible specific category for a specific group of users. Do i have to post about this in the Plugin section ?

That only affects who can EDIT a plugin. It has nothing to do with visibility on the frontend.

Any idea about the visible specific category for a specific group of users. Do i have to post about this in the Plugin section ?

To only view categories that a user is allowed to see, configure the categories sidebar plugin and set the authorid to choose from to "Current logged in author".

Right, Ok, i do understand it now.

I actually didn't get that "author" mean "member of a category".

I hadn't any category, so I wanted the whole category plugin appeared with the VIP category only on the frontend for VIP members.

But I created categories and I classified all the entries. It funnier by the way.

Now classic members see all the categories except the VIP one, and VIP members see all the categories, including the VIP one.
