Upgrade -?-> Left sidebar

About a year ago I installed one of the 1.0-beta... series but did not work with it very much. A few days ago I decided to bring it into "production" and upgraded successfully (as far as I could tell) to 1.1.
My plugins do not *appear* to support a left sidebar placement. Actually, this description from the docs (
http://www.s9y.org/45.html) bears no resemblance to what I see on the plugin management page:
You'll notice a number of options for each istalled plugin, a check box to uninstall the plugin, an icon to configure the plugin, a permissions drop down, a series of up or down arrows to adjust the order of your plugins, and in the case of the sidebar plugins, a drop down allowing you to specify left, right, or hidden attributes for your plugin.
I have no up and down arrows, and no drop down for placement. For each installed plugin I have: the delete checkbox, the configure icon, and a drop down for which author(s).
Thoughts? (I hope this isn't a FAQ; I did poke around there...)
Best regards,

The up and down arrows are ancient history, starting with 1.1 you should now be able to drag'n'drop the plugins to the sidebar "slots", and also change their order by doing so. However, you'll need to activate Javascript in your browser for this to work. (I have to admit I have no idea what happens to the plugin config screen if Javascript is deactivated

)

Which page should I be on in order to exercise this capability?

Administration Suite (logged in, of course) -> Configure Plugins
You should see at least (depends on the template you're using) three columns ("left", "hidden", "right"), and there should be a box for each sidebar plugin installed with some handle-thingy (sorry, I don't know the technical term for this

) in the upper left corner of the box. Also, each box should contain the aforementioned checkbox, icon, etc. If you hover the handle-thingy, your cursor should (remember, Javascript needs to be active) change and you should be able to drag 'n' drop the plugin box to another column.

Hi!
It seems your browser is trying to utilize the drag+drop functionality, but fails to properly load the stylesheet. Can you try to delete your browser's cache and reload the s9y page? Then check for any JS/CSS errors you get on the console?
The page you're on is the right one. However it should more look like this, when all required files are loaded:

My suspicions had fallen on the CSS activity on that page, but one didn't have to be Donald Knuth to see that, I suppose. <g> I didn't think of clearing the cache; darn.
GREAT video on youtube!
What I finally did was take stock of the entire situation, and punt. I didn't have many entries on the old serendipity instance, so I saved those and did a fresh 1.1 install, which is running *very* well, thank you.
Sorry I lost patience...
