I am upto publishing a news site, where I will be importing RSS feeds from Yahoo and other news sites and display them in my sit with the subject, short news, and the URL to go to the news.

Can I do it with Serendipity? and how flexible this script is to run a site like I want?

I have been using Serendipity since the start of December and it's great ! And I'm a PHP novice too, so it's quite user friendly once the whole thing is set up. There is a plugin for importing RSS feeds and it's very easy to do so.

It's part of the standard installation of Serendipity. Look for the plugin called "Remote RSS/OPML Blogroll Feed"

Thanks I got it and is working fine. But I need the imported entries to go as Blog Article, not in the left or right side bar? Is it possible?

It is possible. Evan Nemerson (http://coeusgroup.com/en/) did some proof-of-concept work. But it needs more work, so you'd need to know some PHP or Smarty to achieve what you want. And some motivation and free time , since your wish is not very common...
