Private/Public
Many items like categories, images and plugins can have a public/private flag. As soon as a category is marked as 'public', each user can access and use that category. If it is flagged as private, only the owner can use a category. Same with images and plugins, even though admin users always have the freedem to use anything they want.
1. Were can I do this?
2. Is it possible to create a category and have only one user own it? So that you can use the categories as a blog for one user?

1. You can do that in adding images, adding/modifying categories, adding/modifying plugins sections in the Administration Interface. It's only available since Serendipity 0.7, though.
2. It's possible to restrict a user into a single category, yes. That user needs to have userlevel as Editor then only. But it does not offer a "seperate Blog", so it cannot be styled independently from the other categories or such. Well, in fact, it could - but that would require some advanced Smarty Templating by yourself.

1. Maybe I am blond, but I have version v.0.7.1 , but I can't see public or private anyware (by adding/modifying categories)
Let me explain what I want to do with the weblog;
That there is one Superadministrator and a lot of editors who have the possibility to write there own articles. Maybe with there own layout. The don't have to worry about the installation or Layout etc, just writing there story.
I am a webdesigner from holland and I recently started
http://www.kabbalisten.com (it is in dutch). With a forum, links, ecards and now I want for the visitors to have the possibility to subscribe to a weblog. Any Ideas?

Well, in my 0.7.1 installation when I enter the Category screen, I see an interface:
Name: __________
Description: _____________
Picture: ______________
All Authors: [x]
Parent Category: [_______] Dropdown
The "All Authors" is what I'm talking about.
What you want to do is not possible. Editors of your blog cannot change the layout; only the admin change change the Layout for all of them. Though editors can still focus on their entries, and can change the layout of the entry itself (but not its surroundings).
In most cases, that is no problem though, so you'd need to decide if having a blog just like a forum (one design, multiple users) is okay for you.
Authors however need to be added by the administrator, it's not like in a forum where one can create their own accounts on the fly. This, however, could be done with a plugin (which no one has yet created)...
Hope that helps,
Garvin

You right, its a combination of a forum in a weblog enviroment.
I let you know when I come up with some solution to this.
By Pivot you can set users permission on a category level. But I liked your program more. Your much more easier on the layout and we can use postgresql.
Thanks for responding!!
