Changed Theme now all Mucked up

Hi there,
I was trying out some different themes on my blog when all of a sudden everything has gone crazy. The last theme I installed (through the control panel) remains and new themes I try out (via the control panel) are being affected by that previous theme.

Is there a way I can go in and reset everything back to the original state and start again?

AND, how can I backup my entries/posts just in case I have to re-intsall?

As I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm trying a few things. So far I've copied the htmlarea folder back up onto my web site and emptied the templates_c folder.

Unfortunately neither of thisngs helped.

It looks like a css file or something has been left behind and is interfering with whatever other files are put in place when I select a different template.

Without seeing a url it is difficult to tell what exactly has happened, but I would suggest looking at the site with either a different browser or clearing your cache and looking at it again.

If that does not help, I would suggest removing the directory of the template that seems to have the problem.
