Notice: PEAR.php on line 848

Hi,

my blog got under spam attack and thus I tried to prevent it by putting in some "sharper" anti spam configurations. But now, whenever someone wants to comment in my blog, he gets this error message instead (PEAR.php is in bundled-libs/ folder). Does anyone know how to deal with that? I changed most of the settings back to original, but still, the error message appears. Funny thing: I still can comment in my blog and I'm a normal user to the comment system, just as the others.

Cheers,

Marcus

Hi!

It seems you enabled a DNSBL / SURBL antispam plugin? You can only use that if your server is not firewalled.

If you did not install those, which settings did you enable exactly? Also Akismet requires your server to not be firewalled.

Hey,

thanks for answering quickly. :-)

I'm going to ask server admin if there's a firewall. Indeed, I have activated "Akismet" to prevent my blog from spam attacks.

If the server has a firewall, what can I do instead to get rid of spam?

Cheers,

Marcus

In that case, the only workable approach would be to disable Trackbacks to your blog.

All other filters are not that tight. Single Blacklisting simply does not work any longer.

Okiedo... there is a firewall on the server. What's the port, Akismet uses? Sadly, they do not mention that on their website.

Thanks for your help!

Hi!

It's port 80, plain HTTP.

I am very sorry. The mistake, in this case, was a stupid whitespace that happened to be in front of the Akismet key so it just wouldn't work.

Anyway, thanks for your support! :-)

Cheers,
