Huge slowdown from Poll plugin

I installed some new sidebar plugins and noticed the loading of my Serendipidy blog slowed down to about 10 seconds. After removing the Poll plugin the site got back to its previous speed. Has anyone else had this problem?

This can happen with some plugins. Either the poll was trying to load up a link that's really slow, or SQL database access was having trouble.
Sorry about that. Fixing it will require examining and rewriting the poll plugin. You may find similar problems with other plugins, too.
