[solved] need to login before seeing hidden categories

Post by atomhamster »

hi,
i tried to find this problem in the forum, but didn't. it's not really a bug, i suppose, but:

i always have to open the admin-area (login) to see the posts in "hidden" categories. this is annoying, since i dont even have to enter anything to login to the admin site, but still can't see posts which are in categories that are hidden from non-editors. even when you checked "store login data", this is the case.

how would i edit my v1.0.1 to show hidden categories, without having to open the admin site?

many thanks in advance,
atomhamster

Hi!

When you say "hidden" categories you mean categories where you changed the read permissions to specific author groups, right?

You should see them in the frontend if you've checked the "remember me" button! You can tell if you are properly logged in, if in the footer of every entry you have a link "Edit Entry". If that link is missing, you are not logged in, and thus serendipity cannot show you entries that are only meant for specific usergroups.

Are you sure you are not opening the admin-area with a different URL than your frontend? Only if the hostnames match, the cookie will be the same.

Best regards,
Garvin

yes, i mean categories with changed the read permissions.

in the end, it's always the simple solution.
thanks for your help and sorry for this neat little error on my side:

i added a subdomain forward to the blog, which includes "www.", while the blog itself is configured without it. this is all. i didnt notice that.
