Is there some process, program or code to create a shaded jpg using the colors I wish to use? I need up and down, left and right, and center out, and edges in.

Gimp is a free Photoshop alternative (http://www.gimp.org/). VicMan's Photo Editor is another really good freeware program that supports plugins (http://www.vicman.net/)

I found the answer!
A few weeks ago I had used WORDART in Frontpage and found FIREFOX doesn’t accept it. So I took a screenshot of Frontpage with the wordart in it, pasted it into Photoshop, cropped the wordart and saved it as a jpeg. Worked great.

Same process for this. Pick a wordart form, put the size at 96, type in a small “l”, stretch it as far as it goes, go to format, go to custom fill, and there is a list of shaders. Pick one, pick colors, pick left or right or up or center, then take a screenshot, paste it into Photophop, crop it and you have it.
