I managed to install the shared installation on my server. However after installing via the S9Y interface I get this error.
Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "" in /home/http/bloggers/blog/s9y/bundled-libs/Smarty/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1088

yet the Smarty libs are in the right place. What could be wrong that he can't read them ?

Hi!

This error usually means that either you configured a wrong serendipityPath and thus Smarty cannot find any of the template files; or it means that no "templates_c" directory exists or is writable!

I've got the same problem, I've checked all the paths and the permissions on the directories and all is well. Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi Matt!

Did you also check that all *.tpl files (especially the ones in 'default') are existing and readable?

This error can only mean one of:

- missing .tpl files
- missing templates_c directory
- missing read privleges
- missing write privileges
- misconfigured paths (especially on windows servers)

HTH,
Garvin

Thanks for the response. I threw in the towl and started over, it works now. My guess is something got messed up when I ftp'd the files over.
