Error on update

I just attempted to update my serendipity from Serendipity 0.8.2 to Serendipity 1.0.1
In a previous thread I was attmepting to change my blog address from
http://www.jenstewartphotography.com/serendipity to
http://www.jenstewartphotogprahy.com/blog
I attempted to make the changes necissary for this, but somehow got balled up in the process and could no longer access anything from serendipty. Luckilly I had backed up my program (but I had done this before I had installed the update) So I just deleted the serendipity file from my FTP program, and then re-uploaded the backup I had created. I then tried to upload the update, When I tried to access my page I tried to run the update and got this message
Permissions
/home/content/j/e/n/jenstewart/html/blog/ Not writable
/home/content/j/e/n/jenstewart/html/blog/templates_c Not writable
Permissions can be set by running shell command: `chmod 1777` on the failed directory, or by setting this using an FTP program
Due to a problematic diagnostic, you cannot continue with the installation until the above errors are fixed
I realized I had forgotten to initially do as I read in the FAQ section to install the update
Before you continue the process, make sure that the PHP/Apache webserver is able to write to your serendipity_config_local.inc.php and .htaccess file, and that the directory templates_c/ exists and is writable. You can change permissions using chmod commands in your favourite FTP or SSH client.
I just went back and changed those settings and it still says the same thing
What am I doing wrong?

It looks like your directory is really still set to /serendipity instead of /blog, so that may be why you are getting the error.

Yeah i deleted the old file, and then re-uploaded my backup and still nothing, and my backup had my original serendipity location. "I hadn't changed the location information at the time i created the back-up".

Ah ok, you should move your files from /serendipity to /blog. Filezilla may have a command for you to move the files rather than having to upload again.

Try your admin link, it seems like the upgrader will work.

ok, everything is up, I've gotten into my admin section
however the address
www.jenstewartphotography.com/blog doesn't work the way to view my blog is
http://jenstewartphotography.com/blog/index.php when I am in my serendipity admin page under configuration, under paths it says
index file
The name of your serendipity index file index.php
if I change the index.php to blog will the page be found with this address
www.jenstewartphotography.com/blog or do I need to do something different?

Bear with me here, trying to figure out what it could be...did you make changes to your baseURL in your database?

I did earlier today. it used to be
www.jenstewartphotography.com/serendipity I'm not sure if I changed it in the database or not, or how to do that for sure. I changed it right there in the paths section of configuration in the admin section

I'm just thinking there's a trailing slash somewhere that might be missing...
Do you have mod_rewrite enabled?

yeah that's what it seems like. But now I just tried to get to my configuration section to let you know where the different trails were listed and this error text comes up on the top of my screen above my admin suite
