Hi,
I would like to have a very simple thing on my website which apparently is not possible. I tried all the plugins, which don't work.

I would like to have a simple list in the sidebar with links to static pages. I now have:
Frontpage
Contactform
Guestbook (but for some reason it does not use the title but GUESTBOOK_TITLE instead.

Now i would like a link here to my photoalbum as well. I created a static page with the perma link set to the gallery embedded .html file, but it simply does not show up. Ofcourse, after installing gallery core itself and after that the plugins for embedding gallery in serendipity, i had expected for it to 'embed' in serendipity, like it advertised. that doesn't work either, neither does the sidebar plugin for random images from gallery.

all in all, i really like serendipity, but the quality control of the plugins leaves somewhat to be desired. i'm using the 'reflection' theme now.

Thanks for reading and sorry for the long rant but i'm getting a bit frustrated here :-( and i hope someone has a solution.

Hi!

The staticpage sidebar plugin only lists a couple of "known" plugins to its output. The gallery plugin is not one of those recognized plugins.

However, Falk has developed a plugin with which you can add more links to other plugins. Sadly I don't know the plugin name, so maybe falk will answer here or you could ask him, or you could search the forums for postings by falk with the content "link" or "linklist" or something like that.

What does not work? Which URL did you try to see the embedded gallery?

I'm afraid it's not the quality control that is lacking, it is more the documentation of specific plugins.

Especially all gallery plugins are completely unmaintained by me, so I am dependent on other user feedbacks. Judebert has written up an intensive tutorial covering that; you might want to search this forum for postings by judebert with keyword "gallery" and/or "tutorial".

Best regards,
Garvin

I'm flatterred, but it wasn't me. (Deny responsibility! Deny! Deny!) azel actually did a pretty good job on explaining how to get Gallery2 and Serendipity working together in this thread.
