Re: Plugin Owner
Hi!
Depending on your server setup, Spartacus might not be able to change the permissions on files. If you change owners in spartacus, note that it only applies to NEW plugins downloaded. It does not affect the owner change of any existing plugins you already downloaded.
It might also be that your server is not allowing chmod/chown. In that case please ask your provider to change that behaviour and properly setup PHP for your web.
Best regards,
Garvin

ok.. I hate to bump this, but I have the same issues. No matter what I set as the owner/permissions in the spartacus plugin, the box I am on automatically assigns "Apache" as the owner. I do not have root, but I am allowed to chmod/chown as long as the files belong to me. My friend who hosts me dosent understand why apache is doing this either. I was wondering if anyone here is versed in the ways of Apache 1.3.37, and if there is anyone, if they would be so kind as to provide info on what settings to change, or possibly a script to provide a workaround... Many thanks in advance for any help..

Hi!
Apache by default uses the configured "User" and "Group" as definied in the httpd.conf.
You should check and see how your PHP is configured and see if it allows to use chown/chmod in a small test script? See http://php.net/chown for examples.
It's definitely a configuration issue. You might get better help on dedicated Apache forums, if nobody else here has a more specific hint?
