FreeTag lowercases my tags - must it do that?

Post by Dr. Love »

Hey garvinhicking,

I like your FreeTags PlugIn very much, but there is one thing driving me crazy:

German nouns have an uppercase first letter, so my tags have them too. All OK. But when I edit a post, the tags are all lowercased. So after saving, I have those tags two times: one lowercase and the old ones (correct) uppercase. My workaround ist crappy: when editing a post, I uppercase the post's tags first letters.

Is there any chance to stop this behaviour? Am I the only one with some-letter-uppercased-tags? Am I a Web 2.0 noob and tags have to be lowercase? :)

Thanks and greets, Dr. Love

Hi!

Yes, this is somewhat required because I think I remember the tags often being joined by their lowercase attribute, and so that not users sometimes accidentally use a lower and uppercase version of it, and creating two different tags.

So - sadly no, the lowercasing is currently "by design". But maybe in the future a new config option might be added for this.

But actually, tags in most applications or blogs I see are lowercased. :)

Best regards,
Garvin

Hey Garvin, I just updated the PlugIn to the newest version and see a new configuration option: "Tags in Kleinbuchstaben umwandeln". Yeah, this exactly does what I want (at least in a short test...). Thanks.

Greets, Dr. Love

P.S.: I dislike lowercased tags - most notably with names like Murphy
