After upgrade to 1.0, everything seems to work well but when I go to Manage Styles I get this message:

Trying to open URL package_template.xml...
Permission denied
Notice: Permission denied in
XXXXXXXXX bundled-libs/PEAR.php on line 848
Permission denied

Any suggestions?

Hi!

What is your spartacus plugin's mirror/XML location configured to/for?

Best regards,
Garvin

File/Mirror location (XML metadata)

Hi!

Both of them (File+XML)? Does it still happen?

XML Metadata and File are both set to Netmirror.org All other boxes are empty. This is way it was after upgrade to 1.0. I'm not sure of the settings before upgrade. With these settings I still get the error.

Thanks for your efforts.

Hi!

Please check if your templates_c directory and all files within are writable to the webserver (777 or sth like that)

Directory mode request

Gavin,

On the web server the templates_c directory is:
Owner -- Read Write Execute
Group -- Read Execute
Other -- Read Execute

files in templates_c directory are:
Owner -- Read Write
Group -- Read
Other -- Read

There are only 12 files in templates_c after update.

I don't understand your 777 comment.

Thanks

Hi!

Make it so that Group and Other also have "Write" privileges!

Directory templates_c and all files in that directory were changed so Group and Other also have write privileges in addition to Read privileges as you suggest. No change. Still get the same error.

Thanks for you time.

Hi!

Hm, okay. I wonder where that permission denied is then coming from.

Can you check to see if the "package*.xml" files have a recent timestamp? Please try to delete those package*.xml files and then try to install a theme again; the files should then be fetched into the directory again.

Maybe it could also be a problem that your templates/ directory tree is not writable for Group/Others?

Garvin

Directory mode

Garvin,

Taking your second item first I set the templates directory to Read/Write for Group and Other. No help

The site contains no .xml files at all.

I completely downloaded version 1.0 again and uploaded to the site. No help. I'm surprised it worked at all after that!

It is trying to open package_template.xml on netmirror.org and permission is denied. What in my site would it be looking for to give permission? I have tried changing all the options in Spartacus:

File/Mirror location (XML metadata) (set to s9y.org then back to netmirror.org)
File/Mirror location (files) (same as above)
Owner of downloaded files (tried nobody)
Permissions downloaded files (tried 0777)
Permissions downloaded directories (tried 0777)

As nearly as I can tell, everything is working properly except the Manage Styles function. I can live with my current theme. Do you see any problem in just letting it ride like this? Perhaps at a later date a solution will come to you or to me.

Thank you very much for your time and effort.

Hi!

That's really strange. Did you try to install a plugin (event/sidebar) when having installed the spartacus plugin? Does that work? Because basically that's the same functionality!

And then a package_event.xml should be downloaded for plugins into your templates_c directory.

Usually your admin page should show you the package_template.xml thing as a link. If you click on that, do you get to the netmirror.org page and can see the download?

That this fetching of themes via spartacus doesn't work is IMHO quite uncritical; you can always manually upload new themes to your web. But still, it should work the way it was intended. ;)

Garvin

Plugin error also

Garvin,

When I try to add a plugin (event/sidebar) I get a message like this one:

Trying to open URL package_sidebar_en.xml...
Permission denied
Notice: Permission denied in /home/u5/f29gw/protectmy.us/html/cblog/bundled-libs/PEAR.php on line 848
Permission denied

I am still working with your other suggestion and will notify you later.

Thanks again.

Garvin,

There is no package_event.xml in the templates_c directory. Why would this be? How can I obtain one?

Similarly, there in no link that you mention on the admin page.

Thanks again

Hi!

Did Spartacus work before, in your old environment? Did your provider maybe change firewall setup in the last days, if it worked before?

Can you copy the HTML message ("View Source") that you get in your admin page? Usually there should be a link!

Best regards,
Garvin
