[magically resolved] Spartacus Themes break Style etc.

Hey there!

I couldnt find (maybe just didnt find the right query) a topic for this so if this already has been discussed I am sorry, just point me there..

Problem as follows:

1. Everything worked (clean install 0.9.1)
2. installed Spartacus
3. when now changing to *any* Template except the one used before installing Spartacus, the changed-to template is.. well kinda messed up. Backgroundimage of the original (pre-spartacus-install) template is used, the style is *completely* messed up (textalign, font, positioning of sidebars and content looks as if put in a mixer).
Same happens when I install some kind of Sidebar-Plugin.
4. Changing back to the pre-spartacus-install-template woks fine, everything is displayed as it should (except the above mentioned sidebar plugins).
5. Only way to getting this back to normal is uninstalling Spartacus - then the remaining tamplates work again but.. well, I don´t have Spartacus ;)

Well I feel as if I am giving myself the answers to my questions, but.. I am pretty new to all of this so I dont know where to look to even begin to fix this...
I think in some way there is a mixup between the basic- and the spartacus-cssfiles?!?

help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Hi!

Can you check if spartacus properly download all template files? Does it give you a report on which files were downloaded?

Spartacus does not work on all servers, and you might have configured a wrong filemirror to download the files from...

well, I could if you tell me what files should be there/ where to look for a listing ;)

This is what I can give you so far although I don´t consider this helpfull at all..

Code: Select all

 Trying to open URL
http://netmirror.org/mirror/serendipity//package_template.xml
Fetched 81950 bytes from the URL above. Saving file as DOCROOT/blog/templates_c/package_template.xml...
Data successfully fetched.

yes, I saw the filemirror-issue somewhere else, I checked every possible combination ;)
It seems to work with the netmirror-mirror, I just get an errormessage when I use th sourceforge one.

Thanks a lot for your reply!

Hi!

Which template for example are you fetching? Like, if you are fetching andreas08, a folder templates/andreas08/ should be created, with some files like info.txt and entries.tpl and a "css" subdirectory. And the interface should tell you that those files will be downloaded.

The code you mentioned already looks good, but I would need the output of when you fetch a style.

Garvin

Hi!

Hm, could you please install the templatechooser plugins on your blog and tell me your URL, so I could try to visit the page?

also, did you check if the mentioned files in bazooka/ were saved on your server, and the files contain no garbage?

Regards,
Garvin

aright, now I am kinda confused..
my url:
www.randomthoughts.de

templatechooser is installed AND I think the Bazooka-template works(looked like this before istalingthe chooser too).. at least it does not look messed up as the other ones.. If this does work now I´ll feel kind of emberrassed..
Didn´t change anything else though.. :-/

cant do the checking now as I´ve got craftsmen in my home right now ;) will do so later.

And man, really thanks a lot!!!

EDIT:
I dont get it - it seems to work now.. oh man...

Hi!

Okay, check it out later. Maybe you can boil it down to a specfic template that did not work?

Best regards,
Garvin

did you refresh your browser after each template install - this is the most common error for what you describe that I've encountered

Well, the.. fun thing about this is that NONE except the first installed template worked, I even reinstalled the whole thing (including lampp..) to figure out if I just did something wrong while installing because the first 3 or 4 times themeswitching in the frist install worked as it should.
After reinstalling the same error occured instantly after installing spartacus.
So no, I cant boil it down to one as I´ve tried almost every Template there is, the sparcaus ones as well as the preinstalled ones and the error occured every time (see first post).

And yes I thought about this (reloading) too, have had this "problem" when I toyed around with the cssfiles and din´t get any changes due to "not enough reloading", I even went so far to erase cache, history.. well everything browserrelated. didn´t change anything.

And now it works. And I dont know why. Well I dont know why it didn´t work in the first place but this is really strange.
I normaly try everything before bothering a whole forum or anything and I din´t even see a change in the install logs, behaviour i the same BUT I just noticed that now the admin-page is subject to themechange too, this wasn´t the case before at all.

*Woo, sorry for the grammar guys but it IS damn early in the morning and I AM from germany ;)*

Well, I´ll try toying around with some plugins to check and then report back to tell you if this realy is "fixed" now.

Once again, thanks a lot for your help and advice, thats !really! nice of you!

aright, it works. I honestly don´t know why but it does.

Any chance that a malicious spartacus-install can screw this up so badly?

Well, this was fun.. ;-)

Thanks again!!!
