Hi!

Spartacus fetches the themes from the "additional_themes" CVS repository. So ever ytheme that is there, will be shown.

All working themes can get committed there if they look decent enough that at least I think it's nice. ;)

Either I can commit them to CVS if somebody tells me the location of their zipfile, or people with CVS access can commit and maintain it tehmselves.

In the past I committed themes when they were mentioned here in the forums and the makers wanted to put it online, and the feedback was great. I often don'T have the time to check themes very thouroughly, but the public has made that quite alright in the past time. :)

Do you see any reasons to have non-spartacus themes available anywhere? Is there demand for people who do not want to put their themes into Spartacus? I'm open to discussion, but until know I thoguth that either people want to make their themes public, and want to include their theme in spartacus - or they didn't want to publish their theme publically.

As for the term: I mix up themes, templates and styles everytime. I'm really sorry for that. :-)

Best regards,
Garvin

Variations of themes should not go into spartacus unless there is a significant difference between them, problem is that colorsets have had to be treated as separate themes in the past, especially because many users have felt uncomfortable with editing any of the html/Smarty.

In the very near future this should be a non-issue and then we'll have the ability to strip out all the colorset variations (including all those MT clones), and put them all back into just one theme with a configuration screen. However we would then need to make a concerted effort to get every user of Serendipity to upgrade to version 1.1 otherwise they won't be able to gain the benefits of the new themes.

I don't see this as being a problem, most new users download the latest stable release, and users with older versions are either happy with their installation or would upgrade if there was a significant reason to do so, just look at all those WP2.0, and Firefox 1.5 users.
