Serendipity Logo and branding

Hi

first off I'd like to say a big thank you everyone who took the time to view, comment and make suggestions about the work we've been doing 'rebranding' Serendipity for the v1.0 launch. It was really useful to get feedback from you all.

Having read - and re-read all the comments, we've made a few tweaks to the logo and website. I've also put a favicon and 'powered by' chicklet there for you all to take a look at. Please go and take a look at the revised logo and website and feel free to comment here.

Of course it's impossible to satisfy everybody but the concerns that were raised, I hope we've managed to address.

And if anybody has some free time there's still plenty to do if you'd like to help.

thanks again :)

Hi Rob

thanks for that. :-)

You're right it is much 'cleaner'. This was one of the problems that we felt needed addressing after the forum feedback. The atom in partcular was too loose and too asymmetrical.

The font is 'Skia'. It is a commercial font but a free version is available from quite a few of the freefont libraries. I just 'beefed' it up a little for the website.

I like it. Definitely looks like we're 99.x% toward completion. May I suggest changing the font color away from black to a dark grey - the black just seems a bit invasive.

Hi Carl
glad you like it. Garvin did a lot of work on the logo yesterday - which helped a lot, particularly on the 'powered by' and favicon.

I've had a look and I agree - I've toned it down and uploaded new logos to the website. It gels much better.

Gee its nice to see it all finally coming together. Dave you've done an excellent job, and even though your desgn is still slightly contentious, I really think this will help take Serendipity into the ranks of the top blogging platforms where it belongs. Now I'm really looking forward to the release of version one.

@Dave, get ready, its going to happen for you my friend

@Garvin, well done on managing this, you've impressed a lot of people, version one will be exciting

I like it.
It does it's job well.
As for the nay-sayers - you won't use it (the new logo) anyway.
The closest most users will get to featuring it is in the 'powered by' logo.

The biggest problem with Serendipity/S9Y that i've found is that the home page is such a mess. Having to search around for latest udate/blog/forums - but it looks like you have that sorted with the new look. Well done.

The logo is good - and does what it's supposed to do - add a proffessional sheen to a wonderful piece of software.

Thank you.

You should be proud of yourselves.

I should have pointed out before but there are 2 favicons (in Firefox but not in Safari. Don't know about IE). If you click the 'what is serendipity?' link, that page has the asymmetric favicon.

Sorry

Thank you.

Thank you :D
Dave - and I'm sure Garvin, Jannis, Carl & Jude will be equally gratified by your kind words.
