email in comment feed

One of my users has complained about the fact that his email, that is shown not quite correctly because of spam security reasons in my blog itself (fi. mail[at]domain.com) is shown as a real mail adress (f.i.
mail@romulus23.de) in my comment feed. I must say that I go confirm with this user on this issue and have a slightly bad feeling about it. Is there a reason to protect a mail address on a website but not on a feed?

Does no one have an opinion about this?

Well, it's because the RSS feed should be inside of the API specification; and it says only valid emails are allowed. The problem is, you can't defeat spam easily, because also our '[at]' kind of mangling is already easily parsable by harvesters. So I supopse it's an "eat or die" solution for specifying email adresses on the web; even though we could agree about not giving out email adresses in the feed. Or offer an option for this setting...

Garvin

I would appreciate an option to not display email adresses at all on the outside, so that only registered users with access to the admin areas can see the email addresses.
