Wiki Markup and UTF-8

Hi,

when I recently migrated my blog from supersized.org to a local installation of s9y, my Umlauts have been broken. I traced the issue to the Wiki Markup Plugin, which I have used for my blog for nearly a year. See an example on http://testblog.zugschlus.de/index.php? ... Umzug.html. To me, this looks like the different bytes of the UTF-8 characters are individually passed through the HTML entity escape code (even if "Entities", the last point in the Plugin configuration of Markup: Wiki, is switched off), resulting in unintended output.

Is this a bug in Markup: Wiki? Is a patch possible? Is a workaround possible?

Currently, Markup: Wiki is the only active event plugin for this s9y instance.

Greetings
Marc

Could you post a screenshot of your configuration?

Did you try to set "Delimiter" to "Yes"?

Öhm. I already answered that one. But the answer did not show up in the forum. Anyway.

Yes, I have tried setting "Delimiter" to "Yes". Doesn't help.

After experimenting a bit with the settings - the only setting that changes anything is "Apply markup to Entry Body", which - if set to "no" - turns off all markup. no links, no bullets, no nothing. But correct Umlauts.

Once I set "Apply markup to Entry Body" to "yes" again, the Umlauts are b0rked again.

Then I'm afraid it is a bug with the Text_Wiki plugin. Sadly I know next to nothing about the plugin, since it is also not very commonly used.

Maybe you can ask Tobias Schlitt or the PEAR guys for support? I also know that our WIKI plugin version is a bit outdated.

Garvin

They would probably recommend using a current version. Is it easily possible to update Text_Wiki inside an s9y installation?

It should be, it's in our bundled-libs directory. I don't know though if they've changed their API, so that the plugin might no longer work.

Updating did work, but does not solve the UTF-8-Problem.

Time to talk with the plugin author. If I knew more about UTF-8 I would try to help you myself, but I admit I don't have that particular bit of knowledge.
