just enabled spartacus and now i'm receiving a database error for the blog, itself, and the admin control panel. the actual error that i'm receiving is, literally, "Database_Error" and nothing else.
i had this problem before and blamed it on my previous host. is this an issue with serendipity? very frustrating, indeed.......
Well, no; at least, not for versions past 0.9 (as long as I've been around).
Can you still access your database from other tools, like phpmyadmin? The only other thing I can imagine is that your database user is not allowed to create or modify tables; Spartacus needs some database configuration to operate properly. Could you check that?
thanks for the help. i sent a support ticket to textdrive to get some info on this matter. funny, though, i never had a problem with wordpress or textpattern. does serendipity work a little different than those two?
You can get a "database error" message, if your s9y config file (serendipity_config_local.inc.php) contains wrong userdata or is no longer readable for the webserver user...
Or, if the DB is really denying access because of connection errors.

well, no luck. support from textdrive granted all privileges to my database and i still receive the error message. it seems to happen when i make a change in the control panel or, once, it even happened when i added a new post to my blog. i'm at a loss as to what it could be. i hate to go back to wordpress but i just can't figure this issue out.
onegear: Did you look at your serendipity_config_local.inc.php and see if that contains the right DB permissions?
Can you still use phpMyAdmin to login to your DB?

Garvin
