I am very new to all this, this is only the 2nd time i have tried to upload on to my ftp site, so apologies in advance!

I have uploaded all my files, set my permissions and set up a my sql database. I now proceed to the simple installation page and i think i am entering all the wrong info - i am stuck on database host, databse user and database password. Where do i look for this - are my user and password the same as what as use for cyberduck? i think the host is what is confusing me...

Thanks for all your help, sorry to know zero but i guess you have to start somewhere!

Hi Joni,

Your webhost should give you the details for the mysql connection.

What you need is the following;
1. the mysql hostname, this is the name of the server your mysql database is on, your host control panel might list this under mysql databases, if not contact their helpdesk
2. the database name, you probably created your own database, so use this name, once again, if you can't find it you may need to contact your host
3. the database username, this is the user you created to access and administer the mysql database - by the way, this user needs to have full admin rights (dba) not just read.
4. the password for your databse user. Once again you probably set this so use the password you selected

If you need any further help, don't post any of the mysql details on this forum, just tells us what you've got, and we'll see if we can go from there.

Hope that helps,

Carl

Carl,

Just want to say thanks for your help - I am too embarrased to tell you what the issue was - where is says local host (pre defined in simple installtion) I was changing it to my host provider name!!! I can't believe I had done all the hard stuff and tripped up on that - anyway up and running now thanks once again
