customizing the look

I've just installed serendipity http://www.media247.nl/serendipity/ and I want to add a new header, change the appearance of the sidebar etc. What is the best way to this?
copy templates/default to templates/mystyle and edit the 3 files in it
Most likely you would want to edit style.css and info.txt
