serendipity domain names

Hi all,

The .com/.net/.org serendipity domain names are obviously all taken.
.com is a 'fake' portal, both .net and .org have a very small site that were last updated in 2003.

Have there been any attempts contacting the owners of these sites in order to give the domainname over to this project?

Sorry if this discussion was made before, can't seem to find it in the forums :)

Best, Zoran

P.S.: I really dig the name Serendipity, but I can't help to think why the unavailability of the domainnames was a showstopper when a new name was selected ...

Jannis Hermans is our domain guy, who's also paying the money for all of that. I doubt anyone of us has the funds to register more domains. :-/

You might want to ask him about details, but I for one like the s9y.org domain name :))

Garvin

I like s9y too, especially when typing it :)

I am suggesting this, because I think that it would be easier for first-timers to find the project. Configure it as a cname to s9y.

If it has not been tried before, I don't mind to ask very politely if we can take over the domain name. I can pay for a domain name, if it is at nomial cost.

Any objections?

No objections at all. If you're willing to do that it would be cool.

Evan Nemerson has registered s9y.info some time ago (and paid for it) but then didn't renew the domain...

Best regards,
Garvin

OK, I'll check it out.

The http://www.s9y.info/ askes me to "Make an offer to purchase this domain name.". I guess somebody hijacked it already.
