Trackbacks are a really bad idea.

Whenever I save a blog entry that contains a link to an external site, it says "checking ...... for trackbacks." then just sits there.

I know it says "this may take several minutes", but thats a severe understatement. Try "this may take several days", as I left it "checking for trackbacks" for 3 days as an experiment, and it still didn't work.

Can someone tell me how to fix this problem, please.

Additional info: If the post contains a URL, I have to click "Save", then quit Mozilla Firefox entirely, then reopen mozilla firefox. It does save the posts, but then hangs at the "checking trackbacks.."

Are you using any iframe blockers, or have some special proxy running? Does your server block outgoing trackback connections?

This is of course not how it's meant to be, and I guess there's a problem in your setup.
