Hello

I've read the faq upgrading entry, but still a little unsure - so just want to check:

When upgrading, I go to http://www.s9y.org/12.html
and download the latest version (or cvs if I choose to).

And then ftp this to my webserver, setting it to overwrite existing files.

And after that, run the upgrader in my s9y upgrader (checking files are writeable etc)

What I'm uncertain about is that I have to upload the whole new version of s9y everytime I upgrade, even though only some files would have changed?

Yes, that is right. It is easier to upload the whole new release instead us of telling you which files you need to upload.

In most releases, many files change.

One of the good things of Serendipity is that you can upgrade from ANY s9y version to the latest version this way. If we made intermediate snapshots, we would have to have a new one for every release to every other release. That is way too confusing for the user.

If you are worried about bandwidth and you really need those sparse files, you can create those intermediate files by using our SVN repository and fetching Diffs from the version you came from...

Like a maniac I've been trying out different blog s/w and posting a few questions on their respective forums.
S9Y so far is way ahead when it comes to support - and it's very nice to get it from the developers directly

I agree with that. I was in the same boat, trying out new blog sw, but garvin is top notch and always willing to help, that's why I chose SY9!

That's why I'm here, too. I don't think the importance of an active developer community can be understated. (Weird sentence; it means the community is the most important thing.)

Serendipity's community is top-notch, one of the best I've ever seen on any project, anywhere. I can't believe I almost didn't install it because nobody had heard of it. I'm grateful for the (ahem) serendipity that brought me here.
