...but I cannot find the "announce entries" or as it is called in the documentation "Weblog ping Event plugin" to do some pingbacks.

What's the name of it? serendipity_event_?

Ok, I did not sleep much last night and maybe that's why I'm blind.

The name is "serendipity_event_weblogping" - it's an event plugin that is bundled with all serendipity releases!

that's the problem, if you delete all your plugins to start with a plain plugin list. Maybe it would be a good idea to include not only the additional plugins in the plugin pack, but the standard plugins as well. Just my 2 cents.

That's a bit of a problem, because internal/bundled plugins may always be bleeding-edge and only work with the most recent s9y snapshot release. Thus it's only workable if you keep the bundled plugins of your s9y release, and never delete them.
