Problems with two plugins

Since I upgraded to S9Y 0.9-beta2, my RSS- / OPML-sidebar-plugin doesn't display anything anymore. Also, the top referrers aren't counting up as they should. I already deleted and reinstalled them, but that also didn't work.

Is there any way to test the functionality within S9Y? I'm sorry, but I haven't found anything regarding this one here...

Sadly the RSS-Sidebar plugin is broken in beta2, but has been fixed in the current nightly snapshots. You can just download the nightly, or even only the serendipity_plugin_remoterss directory which will fix that.

Referrers are blocked when more than one hit comes at your blog in a certain timespan, so you must check with different referrers before they add up.

Hey Garvin!

Thanks for answering. Yes, it helped a lot. Keep up the great work!

P.S.: Maybe it's time for registering that nick here too. ;)

OK, remoterss works flawlessly now. Thanks again.

When it comes to referrers, nothing gets counted up since the upgrade to 0.9beta2 unfortunatly. I know there are at least some hits from a Planetplanet (e.g.), but I'm unable to find these within S9Y. Even the db-tables aren't upgraded, so I don't really know if this could be a DB-related problem.

Any chance to analyse that one?

Did you check the serendipity_suppress table and see if the referrers are added there? This is the first-step of our filtering, to check that table...

Garvin

Yeah, I found these entries within serendipity_suppress. Every referrer (I'm aware of) is in there, starting from 2005-10-18. Could you please explain the steps S9Y takes to display referrers into the sidebar-plugin? Maybe this will clarify some things here. I don't get the point why they're not showing up although the frequency is set to 1 day.

Could you please search the forums here for "referrer" and/or "suppress"? I've explained this a few times already, but currently have no time to look it up. It must definitely be there, as the logic is a bit hard to grasp. It acts as a mean for blocking referrers that "spam" your site.

Garvin

OK, I found your explanation about referrer-handling. Read it once, read it twice, (think I) understood, but this also doesn't help me in this case: "legal" referrers are only put into serendipity_suppress, not further processing takes place.

In this case, I'm still wondering how to debug this one.

I must admit that I just hate Referrer Tracking and the whole logic around it. Besides, Referrers are mostly spammed and faked and mostly useless nowadays. :(
