Hm, this is really strange. Which server environment do you have? (PHP, Webserver, Operating System) and which versions?

What was your URL again?

Hm, this is definitely a Apache configuration issue. Can you get to the apache httpd.conf file? There might be an obscure setting that dislocates the URL parsing...

On several hundred installations I've never heard of a server that has a problem with the way of "?serendipity[step]=2b" writing, which should you point to serendipity_admin.php. A URL starting with "?" means, use the current script URL that was called...

Unfornatly I can't access the http.conf file :-(

Is there no chance to write the config file by myself without using the installation process ? is there a default ini file with generic settings ?

Thanks for your help

The problem is that the installation is not the only place where we use a "?..." URL to access files. So even if you would get the installation file written, you wouldn't be able to fix the next problems.

So I'm very sorry to say that you will either need to talk to your provider/hoster about the settings, or you may not be able to use Serendipity properly. We might in the future remove all "?..." links and replace them with full links in the future, but since in the past 2 years nobody ever reported such a problem, we cannot treat it with high priority...

Best regards,
Garvin
