This post it to the developers of S9Y:

Will the final 0.3 release of Serendipity include an upgrade option? I don't want to loose anything, but I would definitely like to keep using the software. An upgrade option like phpbb's would be nice.

We don't have a GUI for upgrading to 0.3 from 0.2

We have an upgrade .sql file which you can run (with phpMyAdmin) and your database will work with 0.3

Thereby you won't loose ANY data and you can just copy in the files from the 0.3 package


A GUI upgrader is planned for 0.4
