Serendity blog vs a Content Mgt system

Hello,

I have successfully installed a nice looking blog thanks to this s9y software. However, today I came across http://drupal.org/.

Drupal seems like a nice bit of open source software that not only includes support for blogs but a host of other features.

I wonder how s9y is superior than Drupals blog system? Should I change camps or what? Drupal also allows users to setup their own blog, something that s9y doesn't allow unless the administrator manually setups the user.

There are quite a fundamental differences from Drupal and Serendipity.

Drupal is more a community style communications package and a community CMS. Their blog system is only a part of the whole package.

Serendipity is aimed at providing the best blog application around, and only on the side touches CMS features. Its CMS feature are pretty well thought out, but they only apply to central pages and do not offer much community-style features. However in the blog sector it is superior because of a flexible plugin API, the Spartacus plugin manager, Smarty templating.

In the end you should evaluate both and pick the system that best fits your needs. There is no "better" or "worse", there's only a "technically different".

Best regards,
Garvin
