Hi all,
When I try to post a new entry, near the category selector combo box, there is a plus img that is appearing which is used to toggle the category selector.
Now, the problem is this + img is appearing sometimes only and it is not appearing sometimes...Normally ,as soon as I click on new entry this toggle option is not appearing and if I refresh the page 5/6 times it is appearing....not understanding why this is happening.

I am using IE browser and Serendipity 0.8..
Is it a problem with Ie?or should I use any FT_toggle anywhere in function_entries file also??
plz help me!

Can you try to check this with a different browser?

I now that updates to the categoryselector have been made in 0.8.2 or 0.8.3 of serendipity - but it works here flawless on my 0.8.4 installation.

Don'T you see the image at all?!? Can you see if your IE reports JS errors or maybe if it is still loading content of your page?

Sorry that I cannot try it on a different browser...

and also request to note that my ver is exactly serendipity 0.8 and not greater

and no JS errors are being reported.........

and the worst part of my problem is i could'nt see the image initially but could see it after refreshing the page for a multiple times...

and the rest of the page is being loaded perfectly without any problem...

Hm. Why can't you try with a different browser? It's hard to debug without that.

Serendipity 0.9 contains some fixes for the categoryselector (even though they're non-critical and made for Konqueror and Opera), maybe you could try to install 0.9 in a seperate path for a try.

As the machine which I am working is not my personal system and it doesnt have any other browsers other than IE, its difficult for me to use a different browser.........

Anyway, I tried downloading the latest version of function_entries.inc.php file from the cvs repository of sourceforge, and kept in my server.
Same problem is still persisting....i.e when I click on new entry, the image doesnt appear but when i refresh the page, it appears .

Also, the clock img which is present near date(one which resets the time) also seems to have the same problem......and instead of +plus img, if I write some text there, the link is appearing and the functionality too is working..
So I guess there must be some problem with the loading of images....what do u say?

You might need to check if your serendipity_event_browsercompatibility plugin is interfering / loading slowly.

Check if the URL you use to enter the admin interface is the same as the URL configured in Serendipity.

Thanks Garvin...u r a genius....
ur idea finally worked.......I removed the browser compatibility plugin from my serendipity and finally its working well. As u said, it must be due to the interference of the browser compatibility plugin....
But not sure if removing this plugin might effect any other page or functionality....lets see..

Removing the plugin only means that you cannot see transparent PNG images in the sucking MS IE browser. )
