two different serendipity installations with one database?

hey there,
is it possible to install different serendipity installations (more than one s9y-blog) on one server with one database?
i want to install a second s9y-blog in a different subdirectory on my server, where i have only one database. my first blog is running fine and i don't want to destroy anything there.
is it ok just to give the second blog another database table prefix? or do two blogs cause any other problems?
