The data base is still in tact.
I was adding the "Bookmark" plugin. The next thing I know I have two "Bookmark" plugins and no Admininstion Login.
So can I recover this, becasue I don't have a way now to make "any" changes to the Blog
help

What do you mean with "no administration login"? I need more details, maybe the URL to your blog would be best.

The "Blog Admin" feature is now missing. I can not access the configuation features... I can not as Administrator or as a registered User add a simple entry etc.
This is a private blog, Accessable only by password that is setup in my Apache http.conf.
I can give you the User Name and password in an email if you would like., sothat you can view the site.
I have another Blog running the Serendipity engine....that is at
www.weweartights.org a bicycling site.
I may have accidently removed the Blog Adimin login , I'm not sure how this happened. I was about to try to reinstall Serendipity to the problem, by first backing up the database. I thought by trial and error I could figure out how to recover the blog. I was hoping that it was a simply a file I could replace, but I have not been able to determine if it is this simple or not.
thank you

So that means you can still see your blog? And you are just missing the sidebar item "Blog Administration"?
Then you might have accidently installed a plugin that is causing errors. You need to remove that. Just log in to your serendipity installation by going to the URL
http://yourhost/serendipity_admin.php - you should be able to login there. Then go to the plugin configuration and you should see plugins marked with "error" or so?
You can send the password to my mail, though, if you want me to have a look at it.

yes I can still see the blog... whew that was a quick reply....I thought you would be asleep in Germany.
I will try your suggestions and get back to you.
------------
minutes later: That was easy. The browser had the serendipity_admin.php call cached.
Somehow I had two of the same plugins appearing on the blog site. I removed one, howerver I still had to reinstall Blog Admin. I was working on the double listed plugins when this problem started and I think I accidently removed the Blog Admin plugin while trying to remove one of the extra Bookmark Plugins.
thanks
ps I noted that the error.log is filled with "file does not exit favicon.ico" My research on what favicon.ico tells me it's some kind of graphic idenity. My impression is that it's not criticle to the operation of the blog... yes/no ?
when I install serendipty I just installl it at the location of the web site and rename it to my domain name. I don't created it as a sub folder to the domain folder. Is this not the common practice?

Those favicon.ico requests come because of browsers trying to see if your site has a unique icon for it; it doesn't ship with s9y and is not required. So you can either ignore the requests (as they don't do anything bad) or you create yourself a favicon.ico file - the web is full with templates for those
