Serendipidy is listed among many other applications to be in danger by the XML-RPC vulnerability.

I am still using v7.01 as 8.0 was not running propperly on my server. Is there any advisory on what to do with the older version?

For 0.7 you are suggested to either upgrade, or delete the "serendipity_xmlrpc.php" file.
