Hi, i installed at
http://www.ichbinegoist.com the latest version from s9y - choosed "Joshua" as style and get this error:
Warning: Smarty error: serendipity_smarty_hookplugin: illegal hook 'frontend_footer' in /var/www/web96/html/ichbinegoist/bundled-libs/Smarty/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1088
What to Do ?
Now i solved the problem with the error-message, i am able to choose Joshua as design, but there is no advice from Joshua, just another Design will be shown.

btw what does this new hook "frontend_footer" do. I still have my footer as a <div id"footer"> tag. Is this hook meant to replace it.

No, the hook is used for the page nugget plugin to emit additional footer code.

Upgrading to Serendipity 0.8.3 will solve that problem.

I'm using a Beta version of serendipity. Is it no problem to upgrade it to the actual version?
thanx

No problems, the upgrade process from any s9y version is always straightforward. Only take care that you don't "downgrade" your installation. So if you're using a 0.9-alpha version, only upgrade to latest 0.9, and not back to 0.8.
Just make a backup of your files and DB to be sure - and then just unpack the latest 0.8.3 version to your directory. Make sure .htaccess and serendipity_config_local.inc.php are writable (i.e. 777) for Serendipity when you're performing the upgrade!

I had the same problem and I solved it by finding the author and getting the updated theme.
http://themes.wormulon.net/
I'm now using the theme (slightly modified) on my site.
Hope this helps,
Peter
