This is so basic, I'm embarrased.
I have downloaded and uzipped the files folder.
I have placed the folder into the root of my site as per the install instructions.
It then says open Serendipity..... but how do you do that?
What file do you point to to open it?
I can't see an install file.
I'm stumped... any advice greatly appreciated.
thanks
Wayne

if you call your serendipity directory with your webbrowser the install page should show up.

Col
I have installed the serendipity folder to
www.lookresearch.com/serendipity
When I browse to it, nothing happens.
Could you suggest a fix?
thanks

I get this error message:
Not Found
The requested URL /serendipity_admin.php was not found on this server.
So it looks like at least this file (or even some more) is missing. Maybe something got wrong with the upload? Please check if all files are where they belong.

Seems like they are all there to me Col.
I've attached a screen shot of my server side files...
Are they in the right place?
cheers

Ok so if I go to
www.lookresearch.com/serendipity I´ll end up in the root directory and there of course is no serendipity_admin.php! But it´s there in the serendepity directory. You can acces it directly if you go to
www.lookresearch.com/serendipity/serendipity_admin.php
so maybe you got a redirection there or something like that? It´s strange because the browser starts looking for the right file, but in the wrong directory.

Hi Col
Yeah, that's what I thought, but I don't have any redirects happening.
If I install using the admin.php file will it all work OK do you think?
cheers

I would give it a try. I have installed Serendipity for a few times and everytime without any problems. Sorry I cant tell you more, I´m only a user myself. I´m sure Garvin (one of the developers) will show up later today. I guess he will be able to help you.

Using the serendipity_admin.php file as a starting point will work okay!
