Ok, I will say I am clueless. I have Serendipity running on my pc here at work. I have apachefriends running and myswl running. I go to the Serendipity url and have the installation page in front of me.

it is asking for a database... what database ? Does Serendipity create one with the proper fields, etc ? or do I have to create it manually ? and if so what are the parameters of it ?

If you know how to use MySQL, you should just create a database in there
and assign a user to it. Put that database and the username into s9y's
installation page.

I wrote about setting up phpBB and s9y in my blog so you could take
a look at that, too.
