I can't say it exactly, ... but I think and am quite sure there was a small bug which prevented the killswitch to work properly.
This was corrected in some followup versions.
If you like, you could take this file https://raw.github.com/s9y/Serendipity/ ... mblock.php from (Serendipity 1.7) and copy it to your spamblock plugin, which is in
/serendipity/plugins/serendipity_event_spamblock/serendipity_event_spamblock.php
Then this killswitch should work immmediately.
Else you could install the latest 1.7 RC to get some more improvements. Do not forget to update your plugins (and maybe unchanged templates [and these by hand]) first!
