This means basically "I am John Doe" (which holds for few), and not "in example John Doe". This seems to be a common mistake - to read that as "in example", but it means "id est". (please correct me if I am wrong).i.e. John Doe
The correct writing would be "e.g. John Doe". (exempli gratia)
On the other hand, do people need examples for how names look like?
