new smilies for s9y?

Grischa and Garvin talked a view years ago (german) about other smilies within serendipity. Problem has been, that they need to be bsd-licensed.

Did someone made a try for new/nicer smilies?

What i found:

• http://www.macinacs.de/smile1.html, but there is no license. probably we could ask for using it?
• http://openiconlibrary.sourceforge.net/ ... ons/emotes, has sweet emotes included. license is mixed up, some of them are cc-by... other ones are public domain. could PD be used for s9y?
• on http://www.wpclipart.com/smiley/index.html are all smilies public domain too.

Other ideas?

Hi!

The emoticate plugin easily supports for custom smilies; so even if you don't have a BSD license, you can use whatever smilies you like. "public domain" is no real license, everyone interprets it differently. So those people would need to be contacted directly and asked to subject them to the exact BSD license.

Of course we would need to find smilies for our defaults that look similar; if one smiley looks differently than the others, I don't think that would look good.

Which smilies would be your exact recommendation for those emotions:

Don't know what could be used. Tango (PD-License) doesn't support every face
