Blog Through Lithium Hosting

Post by EverWyldeCreations »

I haven't installed Serendipity because I'm using the app through Lithium hosting. I'm having a problem with people/spambots being able to register onto my blog and make posts, specifically a dozen at a time written in non-english characters. I need to know how I can set my blog so that no one can register as a user, or at least that all registries must be pre-approved before they get any access to entries.

I have no idea about the setup on Lithium hosting, but you'll want to check out the various Spamblock plugins available under "Manage plugins". There are various of them which can also be combined.

Probably the best recommendation as of now is to install (and configure) Spamblock Bee, Spamblock Bayes and maybe Spamblock (in that order; it's probably best to set these as the first 3 plugins in your event plugin list). Spamblock Bee will handle most of the garden variety spam comments, taking the load off of Spamblock Bayes (which needs a little training). Spamblock can provide some extra mechanisms which you might or might not need.

As to the configuration, it should be pretty self-explanatory. You should also find some resources on configuration here in the forums. Just ask if you need further assistance configuring or if anything is unclear about it.

Lithium Hosting does exist, the original post does not include any URLs to it. Might be spam or not.
