Comments not in moderation but not displaying

Hello,
I've noticed this problem since moving my blog to a new hosting provider, but it may have been there and been un-noticed before that.
It shows comments in the admin->comments facility that "seem" to be approved. That is, it displays the "moderate" button, not the "approve" button under the comment, and there is no yellow title-header.
These comments, however, do not show up when you view the entry normally in the blog. That said, when you view the index of entries, the extra comment is counted in the "comments (##)" count. I'll call these rogue comments, because it also displays other comments normally (if they are approved, you will see them displayed).
I have tried manually changing the rogue comments from approved state, to moderated state, and then back to approved, but they still do not display (except in the comments count, as stated).
If I go in and enter a test-comment, it works as expected (shows up when you view the entry).
Again, the definition I'm using for a "rogue" comment is one that is in approved state and gets counted in the comment count, but does not display when the entry is viewed.
Is there any explanation for these rogue comments? I'm sure it has to do with some setting I'm missing. Perhaps it is in the spam filters, but I'm not able to find what it could be.
