I need help, all my posts disappeared
Hey all, first post I know, but I've been using serendipity for about a month now and today I went to my blog and all the posts have disappeared. Well, they are there when I log into the admin section but they are not displaying on the site. I'm not sure what's happened as they were displaying fine and I've not changed anything.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: I need help, all my posts disappeared
Hi!
In terms of software, it usually doesn't self-decompose *g* so there must be something that changed.
Did you maybe install a new plugin? Did your server provider upgrade involved Software, especiall PHP or the database server?
If the entries are still there in the backend, I am more betting on a newly installed plugin. Or maybe did you change anything in the configuration? Things that would make entries disappear is i.e. a change in the used template, or also a change in user privileges.
It's hard to debug without getting more details. In first instance, a list of your event plugins coud help. Also you might want to go to the configuration screen and disable the option to apply read-privileges per-category; I somehow suspect that the ACL/privilege system could be involved for hiding entries.
Another idea woud be that the server time somehow changed and now the software "thinks" that all existing entries are in the future
When you publish a new blog entry, does it show up? Also, what's your URL.
Regards,
Garvin

Re: I need help, all my posts disappeared
Hi thanks for your response.
I have tested with a new post entry and this still does not show. I also then set the date to 1909 and it still dont show.
I haven't added anything new to the system for several days nor made any changes in the config since I last seen it working.
As for my hosting provider, its possible they did something, I'm thinking of moving away from them anyway as they upset me greatly
I guess the biggest change which I think could affect the acl stuff was I turned on the url rewriting in the appearance and options section, but it was working fine for over a week since I made this change.
I also recently installed the tag plugin and set a few words which auto detect for tags which was the last plugin change I made.
I've not changed anything to do with user access or how stuff is displayed either. I have a single account on the system for posting with, and posts that are made display publicly without restriction.
The template I've been using is the same one since I started blogging and no updates to this have occurred, but when I run the verify install option in the admin menu it does throw this up

Re: I need help, all my posts disappeared
If I follow search results in google to the actual pages as well, they load but nothing is displayed barring the outside site with no article content. It is indeed like the acl to view stuff has changed but from what I can tell it looks normal when I check the post as entries are set to allow everyone to view

Hi!
Can you temporarily switch to a different template? It seems as if "entries.tpl" might be garbaged or missing, because there's no "serendipity_body" CSS class anywhere to be found...?

Hi!
In that case, try to delete all files containing "entries.tpl" in your templates_c/ directory, and then make sure that entries.tpl in the templates/comptetition/ directory exists? You might want to overwrite that file with a fresh version from a s9y release ZIP file to make sure it's the right one?

Are you sure coffey cup entries.tpl has a bulletproof paginator?

Pagination has nothing to do with this, neither has bulletproof... are you confusing this post with the other one?Timbalu wrote:Are you sure coffey cup entries.tpl has a bulletproof paginator?

Re: I need help, all my posts disappeared
Hi, thanks for the help. I removed all the files relating to the style from the templates folder and also the templates_c folder and replaced the files in the template folder with a fresh copy from a s9y release I just downloaded. Everything is now back to how it was.
Thanks again for the support

Re: I need help, all my posts disappeared
Ah okay, the problem may be deeper routed. For some reason it keeps corrupting. Once I've set it back it seems to change itself back to showing no posts.
If I delete the content.tpl file which is generated in the templates_c folder and then refresh the page it goes back to normal. But then it goes back to not showing it would seem.
Could you recommend a cause of this I can look at?

Re: I need help, all my posts disappeared
Just to update, the file:
competition^%%A4^A47^A4740C9E%%content.tpl.php
Seems to be losing data out of it. When its first generated it has the below info in it. For some reason this is disappearing from the file. Currently I have taken away permission to write to this file from the owner. This seems to of stopped the file losing the content and the site has remained looking normal.
Will not having write permissions to the file affect anything moving forward or can I leave it like this and all be good?

Well that didn't work, the file just seems to lose its data.
