hi, just installed serendioity 0.8.1. it was easy and worked fine. i entered the requested passwords (easy installation). and everything seemed to be alright. but when i try to log in it allways says wrong pass/ username.
i changed everything in the sql database to make sure pass and username are right -even that md5. but it still doesn´t work. any ideas???

You need to use your "username" and not the "real name" to login, did you pay attention to that?

Can you check your SQL table "serendipity_authors"?
If possible mail me a dump of your table and tell me with which PW you try to login (I will tell you how to change the password afterwards); then I can see if the credentials really match the DB.

everything goes fine, then login doesn't work. I reinstalled it once and wrote down all the values. Was in the blog front page and tried to switch to admin login and it stopped there.
I've been installing several CMS, BB, and Blog programs with MySQL, Apache in Windows with IIS to find the best ones, and all of them work fine, at least for logging in purposes, so it doesn't seem to be my system.
will reinstall again, prefer not to send you files - I'm too impatient for that...going nuts actually.
Must be a bug, installation was very smooth, the screen says installation went fine, I know the username and pw I used, yet it suddenly doesn't recognize them & found no help screens.
Maybe a secure way to retrieve lost passwords as when you register for many sites and get an email sent based on the installation email ?
IT WORKED

I think I may know what it was.
For username the default username there is John Doe. I had left it with that value originally. Maybe it doesn't accept two words separated by a space, because I know I tried John Doe.
This last installation I replaced it with a one-word username and it worked. That's all that I know that I did different.
